Indian Super League is back in action at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium(Kochi) with the encounter of Kerala Blasters and Atletico de Kolkata.

Having played 12 matches so far, Kerala Blasters have won just one game beating ATK 2-0 on the opening night, and are currently struggling at 8th place, desperate to get a win. Atletico de Kolkata, on the other hand, have won 4 Matches and are now at 6th place, facing difficulties to reach the top 4 spots.

Kerala Blasters:

Despite having won just one match this season, the home side is desperate to win their upcoming fixture against ATK to make it 6 out of 6 possible points as they’ve met earlier in this season. Kerala Blasters were put to shame by Mumbai City as they lost 6-1 to them, which then led to the exit of their manager David James. The doors were open for a new manager as they appointed Nelo Vingada, the former NorthEast United FC coach.

Kerala Blasters signed Cyril Kali who’s intended to help in removing the palpitations in the back line alongside Sandesh Jhinghan and should provide a mean-looking partnership in the central defence.

Injury and Suspension:

Anas Edathodika, the former Jamshedpur FC player, was irregular in the first team line-ups due to his injury. He joined Kerala Blasters this season missing the first three matches due to injury and was given green signal to finally start his new campaign with his new team. However doldrums did not leave their side as Zakeer Mundampara, the midfielder was handed six-match ban which means he would miss the entire season.

Atletico de Kolkata:

ATK had an anti-climax season in the last tournament finishing 9th place in the league. Following their let down, ATK agreed to appoint Steve Coppell as the new head coach for the 18-19 season. Coppell is better known for his compact style of playing mainly concentrating on defence.

Having lost to Kerala Blasters on the opening day of this season, ATK will be furious to take revenge. The team is without a win in their last 6 matches this season, having troubling to score as they are the least scoring side with just 10 goals. ATK sitting 6th on the table still have dogmas of faith to reach the top 4 with 5 matches to be played still left. ISL coming to its business end, ATK cannot bear the expense of losing any game now.

Injury and Suspension:

ATK are fortunate enough this season as they have to deal with less injured players. Struggling with knee injury Prabir Das(RB) is the only regular player who is out of the squad. To elevate the morale Kalu Uche returning from grade 3 quadricep tear injury, gives some amount of hope to his side to challenge in the top 4 battle.
