Jadon Malik Sancho, considered under age for consuming even alcohol in some countries, is plundering the Bundesliga in his early years of footballing career at Borussia Dortmund. He started his career at Watford and then went on to join Manchester City. He developed at a rapid pace but failed to break into the first team at City. Pep Guardiola had so many high quality players at his disposal in the club that he couldn’t find a way to give this blossoming prodigy a chance to display his prowess.
Sancho, 18 years old, thus had a tough decision to make because he starved for play time at the English club and found his services superfluous there. Soon Borussia Dortmund came calling and he decided to fly to Germany to unlock his potential at the Bundesliga club in 2017. Now, with his destructive capabilities he has shown, what a gem of a player City had lost the hold of when they decided to let him go.
Christian Pulisic, Sancho’s team mate and another super talented young player at Dortmund has expressed his opinion about Sancho’s potential and said to Sky Sports News in an interview : “The sky is the limit for a guy like that, he’s got so much talent and he’s a great young player.”
When asked about Sancho’s decision to move to Germany, he said: “Sometimes you have to take a risk if you want great things to happen.I had to do the same thing moving to Germany. I’m really happy for him that things are working out and just want him to continue to push and continue to get better.”
Sancho’s progress in the German League has gathered attention of his coach of the England’s national team Gareth Southgate and is set to start for England in the upcoming match against USA. He’ll be facing his teammate cum admirer Pulisic who’s from USA in the fixture.
Jadon Sancho has already starred in the England’s under 17 World Cup winning campaign and has already earned his first international cap in a friendly played previously.
He has started this season at a really a high note scoring 5 goals and 8 assists in 17 appearances at Dortmund. And to back his brilliance with another stat, he stands 3rd in the list of players most involved in goals in Europe’s top 5 leagues ; beating Lionel Messi who is fourth. Sancho boasts a 1.54 goals/assists per game record while Messi has a score of 1.43. [Source: Sky Sports Football]
This youngster has made his way into the starting eleven at Dortmund and outperformed Pulisic to snatch the tag of brightest young prospect from him. No wonder why Pulisic said what he said about Sancho in his interview.
